At East Roswell Preschool we love the insatiable curiosity and energy of toddlers! We welcome their enthusiasm by providing a challenging, kid-paced day to fulfill their needs.

Our Toddler Program grows along with your child by building on previous knowledge and introducing new developmental skills and learning activities. Each activity is not only fun and engaging for your toddler, but also serves to develop new social, emotional, and mental abilities.

We know how important it is to establish a solid educational foundation in the early years of your child’s development. Our desire to see your child achieve is also evident in our commitment to keeping parents involved in their child’s education. Our door is always open for any concerns or suggestions and we welcome your feedback to help improve our education and care for every child.

Our school-wide focus on early literacy and language acquisition continues in our toddler classrooms. Sign language use becomes more frequent and reciprocal. Children begin naming and pointing to familiar objects in books, showing the beginning of understanding connection between pictures in books and real-life objects. Children act out things they see or hear read aloud in books. Students select their own books and frequently ask for them to be read over and over. They learn the alphabet song and begin to talk about starting sounds of familiar objects. Instruction of Mandarin Chinese begins in the older toddler class, where familiar songs are used to teach new words and sounds. Children recognize their names on cubbies and begin to identify the letters in their names. Children are encouraged to engage in conversations with one another. While not completely verbal, the teacher can encourage conversation by asking open-ended questions that require more than a yes or no answer while playing in a center with the children. Play props are provided to stimulate this. The teacher may model conversation for non-verbal children.

Toddler Curriculum includes:

  • hands-on projects designed to stimulate the toddler mind
  • a structured learning plan designed to meet your child's developmental needs
  • problem-solving challenges and puzzles
  • a fun, safe play environment for personal discovery and adventure
  • a rich educational environment filled with science, math, language, drama, music, art, and more
  • daily reports for you on the progress of your child including updates on naps, toilet training and meals
  • close attention to each and every toddler to maximize personal growth
  • a private Facebook group to share photos and updates about the activities in which your child is participating throughout the day.

The Toddler Program

Our program works to strengthen all aspects of your growing toddler's development:

  • building language - Through additional sign language skills, your toddler learns to communicate with caregivers and other children so that his individual needs are more easily met.
  • stories and songs - Exciting stories and an array of silly, fun songs help your toddler's imagination continue to grow while he learns those important skills needed for the next developmental level.
  • creativity - Our facilities are designed with imagination in mind. As your toddler develops, he will continue to explore his abilities in music, art, and drama with the help of our developmentally-appropriate learning centers in each classroom. Our state-of-the-art facilities encourage creativity and imagination.
  • fine and gross motor skills - With your toddler on the move, a busy body is a healthy body! Whether he is crawling, walking, reaching, or tossing, we help your child learn all about his body and celebrate his accomplishments both great and small.
  • social interaction - When children enter into the world of toddlerhood, they become aware of the world around them. We believe that healthy, happy children understand the importance of friendship and harmony with their teachers and peers. Our school is designed to maximize friendly interactions between children and teachers, no matter the nationality, religious belief, or cultural differences.

We know that the adventurous and fearless attitudes of toddlers often lead to the occasional boo-boo. Our staff is always prepared to lovingly comfort and care for each toddler when it happens. We have a very special place in our schools where your child can rest and receive the love and compassion she deserves. Everyone on our staff team is trained in First Aid and are experts at “making it all better.” Whether you are looking for a preschool, after school program, or anything in between, our school goes beyond the average daycare or childcare experience.
