Curriculum

At East Roswell Preschool, we strive to create a safe, healthy, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that fosters individual growth and interpersonal skills. From infancy to elementary education, we have developed a curriculum that will build confidence and encourage creativity in every child.

The Creative Curriculum is the basis for our classroom instruction. Children learn best by doing, and the Creative Curriculum uses a developmental "hands-on" approach built around our school's weekly or monthly themes. Our school also has monthly international themes during most of the year to focus on other cultures, foods, languages, etc. This allows us to celebrate Chinese New Year, have our own Tour de France Tricycle Race, and more.

The Georgia Early Learning Development Standards (GELDS) are used for lesson planning within the framework of the Creative Currriculum. The GELDS are a continuum of skills, behaviors, and concepts that children develop from birth through age 5. The continuum allows the classroom teacher to individually plan activities based on the development level of a child then moving the child forward. The GELDS support the growth of the whole child (physical development and motor skills; social and emotional development; approaches to play and learning; communication, language, and literacy; and cognitive development and general knowledge).

Our school focuses on Early Literacy and Language Acquisition. The foundation of a child's success in school is laid in the early preschool years. How well a child reads directly affects his/her success in school and in life since this ability opens the doors to all knowledge of the world. We place a strong emphasis on helping students develop the skills needed to read as soon as they are able.

Summaries of our developmentally-appropriate classrooms:

Infant-Toddler Curriculum -  Infants as young as six weeks old are involved with stimulating, hands-on play. Each activity is designed to assist your child in achieving those important developmental milestones while he has fun at the same time. We teach baby sign language to give our littlest students a method of communication before vocal skills develop. Our environment is a safe place filled with love, growth, and discovery.

Preschool Curriculum - 2 through 3/4-year-olds - The learning adventure continues into preschool. Our goal is to help equip your child for the challenges ahead by instilling a sense of confidence and accomplishment while basking in daily successes.

Pre-K Curriculum - Our Pre-K program focuses on early literacy, with children putting sounds in word families. With focus also on sight words, students begin to read predictable readers.

School Age Program - 5 through 12 year olds - Our School Age Program is a STEAM-based curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) that focuses on making learning fun.

Our curriculum, partnership with ABCMouse.com, state-of-the-art facility and cafeteria, and our unmatched teaching staff are all factors that guarantee the highest quality experience.
